2 inch BSP gate valve.
A gatevalve is designed for use in low pressure systems where the pressures involved are only a few metres head (less than 1 bar). They are usually used to temporarily turn off supplies for maintenance. When the valve is open, the gate gets fully drawn up into the valve, which leaves an opening that is about the same size as the pipe installed in the valve. This allows water to freely flow, since there is little restriction in the valve. When the valve is closed the gate is down - though often the seal is not completely perfect.
Please note that the valve wheel head might vary from that shown in photograph in that it may be manufactured from pressed steel or cast alloy depending on current stock - if material is critical to you please email us to check before ordering.
BSP (British Standard Pipe Thread) sizes don’t match up with what you would measure using a ruler. Have a look at the BSPT link at the bottom of this page for more information about how plumbing threads are measured.
